Guided Experience for Families on a Journey of Transition

You don’t need all the answers right now.
You just need a place to start — and someone to walk alongside you.

Supporting a transgender or gender-diverse young person can feel both deeply meaningful and deeply overwhelming.

You want to show up with love, clarity, and confidence — but the world around you doesn’t always make that easy.

And while you’re doing everything you can to support your child, you deserve support too.

When your child shares something about their gender identity, everything can shift at once.

You might feel:

  • love and fear at the same time

  • unsure what to say (or not say)

  • overwhelmed by decisions you didn’t expect to face

  • worried about getting it wrong

This experience was created for that exact moment.

Not to overwhelm you with information.
Not to expect perfection.

But to help you take the next step — gently, thoughtfully, and with support.

What This Is

This isn’t a course.

It’s a 5-week guided experience designed to meet you where you are.

When you join, you’ll receive:

  • The First 30 Days guide (PDF)

  • A series of supportive emails over 5 weeks

  • Gentle reflections to help you process what’s unfolding

  • Practical language and real-life examples

  • Ongoing invitations for deeper support, if and when you need it

What You'll Leave With

By the end of this experience, parents often feel:

  • calmer and less overwhelmed

  • more confident in what to say (and what not to say)

  • better able to support their child emotionally

  • less alone in the process

I created this based on both my professional work — and my personal experience as a parent.

I know how much you want to get this right.

And I also know:
You don’t need to be perfect to be a deeply supportive parent. You just need space, support, and steady guidance.

At any point along the way, if you find yourself thinking: “I wish I could talk this through with someone…”

That’s where coaching comes in.

A space where:

  • nothing is too small or too complicated

  • your questions are welcome

  • your experience matters too

Regarding educational support:

"As a mom of a grown adult and teenager that are in LGBTQ community, this was an excellent course to take - everything was laid out very well - I even learned a few new things - terms that never knew existed. It was an eye opener. Thank you for this opportunity."

A. Jessome, parent and Library Clerk

'Cyn Sweeney has a direct and calm nature about her which will be helpful to anyone searching for a path. Her knowledge and ability to communicate clearly and with compassion has been an invaluable asset for my family.'

— Anne, parent

"..... passion, empathy and knowledge are three words I'd use to describe Cynthia's commitment with fostering inclusion and supporting our transgender and non-binary youth. Her LGBQT training, and volunteer experiences with our PRIDE community make her an asset to educating and supporting our youth as well as with and connecting them and their families with the best resources to help them move forward."

Roseita Corbett,

School Counsellor MEd., RCT, CCC

Your Questions Answered

What is Transition Coaching and who is it for?

Transition Coaching is designed for parents, caregivers and extended family members of transgender and gender creative children, youth, teens or young adults seeking support. I also provide coaching programs for professional teams and individuals navigating change, growth and transition.

Coaching is not therapy, not crisis intervention, and not about pushing decisions. It’s a supportive space to think, feel, and move forward at your own pace.

What can I expect from a free Discovery or Clarity Call?

We'll meet virtually to learn about my coaching programs, get a feel if coaching is right for you, and talk about your parental support needs. You'll be able to ask questions, and explore how my services can help. These typically take place virtually via Zoom, however, in-person sessions are also available.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, all coaching sessions are private and confidential, ensuring a safe space for you and/or your partner. I am an LCI Certified Coach and a former Chapter Lead of pflag Halifax (part of a national 2SLGBTQIA+ non-profit), and I have been supporting parents and caregivers of trans youth since 2018.

How do I know which package is right for me?

During your consultation, I will help you identify the best package based on your goals and circumstances.

Can both parents or caregivers attend sessions?

Absolutely. I encourage all primary caregivers to participate for the most effective support. You may also decide to include a grandparent(s) whom can also benefit from my gender affirming program. Ask me about options for Group Session bookings.
