Walking Alongside You:
Coaching for Parents Navigating a Child’s Gender Journey

A calm, supportive space to talk things through, ask questions, and move forward with more clarity and confidence.

If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’ve been reading through The First 30 Days and the emails that followed.

You might be starting to feel a bit clearer in some areas…

And still unsure, overwhelmed, or carrying a lot in others.

That’s completely normal.

There comes a point where reading and reflecting isn’t enough —
and you need space to actually talk things through.

That’s what coaching is for.

What is Gender Affirming Coaching

Coaching is a space where we slow things down and focus on what’s unfolding for you and your family.

Together, we work through:

  • what you need support with as a parent

  • how to navigate real-life conversations (home, school, family, healthcare)

  • how to build confidence without pressure to “get it perfect”

This isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about moving forward in a way that feels steady, thoughtful, and aligned with your values.

What Makes This Different

My approach is shaped by both professional experience and personal lived experience as a parent.

I understand:

  • the emotional weight that comes with this journey

  • the fear of getting it wrong

  • the love that sits underneath all of it

You won’t be judged here.
You won’t be rushed.

You’ll be met exactly where you are.

I combine evidence-based strategies with compassionate listening to help you build confidence, foster open communication, and create a supportive environment for your child’s growth and happiness.

Note:

Transition Coaching is not mental health therapy and doesn’t provide diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it offers practical, affirming support and space to help you understand your child’s experience, build connection, and move forward with more confidence in how you show up for them.

What We Can Work Through

Parents often come to coaching with things like:

  • “I don’t know what to say — and I’m afraid of saying the wrong thing”

  • “I’m struggling to talk to extended family”

  • “I feel overwhelmed by decisions around school or healthcare”

  • “I want to be supportive, but I’m still processing my own emotions”

  • “I feel like I have to hold everything together”

If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone.

You're in the right place.

How It Works

We start with a free 20-minute Discovery Session.

This is a chance to:

  • talk briefly about what’s going on

  • ask any questions you have

  • see if this feels like the right fit for you

From there, we can decide together what kind of support would be most helpful — whether that’s a few sessions or something more ongoing.

There’s no pressure. Just a conversation.

Regarding educational support:

"As a mom of a grown adult and teenager that are in LGBTQ community, this was an excellent course to take - everything was laid out very well - I even learned a few new things - terms that never knew existed. It was an eye opener. Thank you for this opportunity."

'Cyn Sweeney has a direct and calm nature about her which will be helpful to anyone searching for a path. Her knowledge and ability to communicate clearly and with compassion has been an invaluable asset for my family.'

— Anne, parent

"..... passion, empathy and knowledge are three words I'd use to describe Cynthia's commitment with fostering inclusion and supporting our transgender and non-binary youth. Her LGBQT training, and volunteer experiences with our PRIDE community make her an asset to educating and supporting our youth as well as with and connecting them and their families with the best resources to help them move forward."
