  • I just want to make sure I’m doing right by my child.”

  • “Everything is so politicized — how do I support them without feeling lost?”

  • “I’m scared of making mistakes, but I want to learn.”

  • “Our family is struggling, and I need someone who understands this from experience.”

  • “I don’t know how to talk to extended family, the school, or our community.”

You're in the right place.

My Coaching Approach

Gender Affirming Coaching is designed specifically for parents and caregivers of transgender people who want:

  • grounded, practical guidance

  • a safe place to process fears, grief, hope, and change

  • real-world language strategies and confidence-building tools

  • help navigating systems (school, healthcare, name/marker changes, boundaries with family, etc.)

  • someone who understands — professionally and personally

I combine evidence-based strategies with compassionate listening to help you build confidence, foster open communication, and create a supportive environment for your child’s growth and happiness.

Transition Coaching is not mental health therapy and doesn’t provide diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it offers practical, affirming support and space to help you understand your child’s experience, build connection, and move forward with more confidence in how you show up for them.

Regarding educational support:

"As a mom of a grown adult and teenager that are in LGBTQ community, this was an excellent course to take - everything was laid out very well - I even learned a few new things - terms that never knew existed. It was an eye opener. Thank you for this opportunity."

'Cyn Sweeney has a direct and calm nature about her which will be helpful to anyone searching for a path. Her knowledge and ability to communicate clearly and with compassion has been an invaluable asset for my family.'

— Anne, parent

"..... passion, empathy and knowledge are three words I'd use to describe Cynthia's commitment with fostering inclusion and supporting our transgender and non-binary youth. Her LGBQT training, and volunteer experiences with our PRIDE community make her an asset to educating and supporting our youth as well as with and connecting them and their families with the best resources to help them move forward."
