This blog brings together reflections from my work as a speaker, author, advocate, and leadership coach. Some posts grow out of conversations from the Simply Beyond podcast, while others explore ideas that have shaped my journey personally and professionally.
At the heart of all of it is one simple belief:
People thrive when they feel they belong.
And belonging is something we build together.
Why “Simply Beyond”?
The name Simply Beyond reflects something I’ve learned over many years of conversations about identity, inclusion, and leadership.
Growth often begins when we move beyond the assumptions we inherited.
Beyond labels.
Beyond fear of saying the wrong thing.
Beyond the idea that we must have everything figured out before we begin.
The conversations here invite curiosity rather than certainty — because curiosity is often where real understanding begins.
A Little About Me
I’m Cynthia Sweeney, a speaker, author, and leadership coach.
My work focuses on helping leaders and communities create environments where people feel seen, respected, and valued.
Much of this journey began in a very personal place — learning alongside my own child when they came out as transgender. That experience reshaped my understanding of identity, belonging, and the power of listening.
Over time, those lessons grew into advocacy, speaking, writing, and the work I now do supporting organizations and individuals navigating complex conversations about identity and leadership.
